Symptoms of the disease

Pinworms are thin and white, a bit thicker than a sowing needle and about 10 millimetres long. They most often breed in the large intestine, but they can also cause a vaginal infection. Many people have them without even knowing it. The most common symptom is an itchy anus. Pinworms are most active at night and during the full moon. That’s when they’re on the move and when they lay their eggs, which causes itching.

Bandage on the anus

If you suspect you have pinworms, your doctor will probably tell you to put a bandage on your anus. The sample will be examined under a microscope, where it will be seen if there are any eggs present. You may have to do this for two to three days to get a sample for certain.

After the diagnosis

If the diagnosis confirms the presence of pinworms, you, everyone who lives with you and your sexual partners need treatment. Pinworms are easily transmitted, usually by hand. So don’t forget to wash your hands after using the toilet because this prevents the infection from recurring.

Fight pinworms with garlic

A herbal remedy for pinworms is garlic: eat one clove of garlic a day for three days. On the third day, drink a cup of Chinese cinnamon and peppermint tea. Prepare the tea by pouring a cup of boiling water over half a teaspoon of Chinese cinnamon leaves and half a teaspoon of peppermint leaves.

Cook the concoction for 3 to 5 minutes with the lid over the dish. Why garlic and peppermint? Garlic weakens the pinworms, while the tea is a laxative which washes them away. Repeat the procedure in a week to get rid of the larvae which have started breeding anew and do it once more in two weeks.

How to get rid of pinworms in the vagina?

Vaginal pinworms are destroyed by sitting in a bath where we pour in one and a half cup of bitter salts (Epsom salts) to a bit less than a gallon (4 litres) of water. This should be repeated for three days, twice a day. You should also smear an ointment made out of zinc oxide on the opening of the vagina, the anus and the crotch. You’ll need a prescription for the ointment. Thus you can get rid of pinworms effectively.
