Myths about the Prevention of Pregnancy

There are numerous beliefs about pregnancy and how to control it that are usually transmitted by teenagers who are also the group most likely to experience unwanted pregnancy. Let us take a look at the most common myths about preventing pregnancy.

I cannot conceive if I make love standing up

Just like in any other position, you can also conceive standing up. The sperm continues to swim towards your uterus after your partner’s ejaculation, even if you are standing up. Although it may flow out of your vagina after a few minutes, this does not mean that it did not reach the uterus.

A thorough wash of the vagina after intercourse cannot prevent the sperm from getting into the uterus. (jlp)

This is my first time, so I cannot get pregnant

This statement couldn't be farther from the truth. If you do it once, it's enough, including your first time, so don't be naïve and gullible when your friends tell you that nothing happened when they did it for the first time.

I'm safe from getting pregnant during my period

This also isn't the case. If your menstrual cycle is short, which means from 21 to 24 days, it is entirely possible that ovulation occurs while you are still bleeding.

You can also conceive during your period, especially if you have a short menstrual cycle. (jlp)

I cannot conceive because I didn't get my period yet

Many youngsters believe in this myth and thus increase their chances of conceiving - you can get pregnant despite the fact you have never had your period.

After intercourse I can just wash myself thoroughly

Immediately after ejaculation, the sperm really quickly swims towards your uterus, in other words, by the time you wash yourself, it is too late.

I can only conceive if he ejaculates into me

You can also get pregnant if he ejaculates anywhere near your vagina. The sperm can flow into your vagina, the result of which is, of course, nothing else but pregnancy.
