An older lady and a younger lover

Do you remember the masterpiece Sunset Boulevard, a story about a forgotten movie starlet who wants to get into the limelight one last time and has a younger lover, the movie which was directed by Billy Wilder in 1950? This is the remake, where the elderly movie starlet, who lives in a house with 36 rooms, is played by the busty Sylvia Miles instead of Gloria Swanson. Sylvia is the actress who portrayed the horny woman in Midnight Cowboy, where she had passionate intercourse with Jon Voight. Her lover, played by William Holden in the original, is portrayed by Joe Dallesandro, the hero in all of Morrissey’s movies who never made it into the big leagues because he was too plastic.

The story of the movie Heat is about a passionate romance between a young men and an elderly woman.

But beware, Andy Warhol's Heat isn’t just an expected mixture of sex, perversion and typical avant-garde, which were present in other movies by Morrissey supervised by master Andy Warhol, father of pop art and director of many experimental and totally crazy movies. This is a surprisingly well done, convincing and quality psychological drama. It’s an original take on a familiar topic, where the characters dare to do much more. Ok, we still have masturbation and oral intercourse, but not with the intent to shock, but to relax the viewers. We also have the cult, barely 24 year-old actress Andrea Feldman, the rich girl from the movie Trash, the star of crazy private performances and a member of Andy Warhol’s crew, who committed suicide only a few weeks before the movie premiere. She did it in a very unique way, by inviting all her ex lovers in front of her apartment and jumping off the balcony just for them. This was a performance like no other and an act which easily surpassed all her other wacky movie roles, maybe even the movie we have just been discussing.
