The film Bitter Moon, by the infamous director Roman Polanski perfectly portrays the type of relationships of two couples. The settled married couple Fiona (Kirstin Scott Thomas) and Nigel (Hugh Grant) on a cruise to India meet an interesting couple, the attractive frenchwoman Mimi (Emanuelle Seigner) and her husband Oscar (Peter Coyote), who is paralyzed below the waist. After Oscar notices, how very much Nigel is mesmerized by the beauty of his young Mimi, he decides to trust him with their stories. Nigel accepts the invitation to Oscar's cabin, first out of politeness, but with time he becomes more and more interested. Nigel is disgusted by Oscar's simple and even vulgar way of speaking, but he is nevertheless obviously fascinated with every chapter of the romance, which started with love at first sight. Meanwhile the audience can enjoy the well portrayed differences between the reserved, shy and well-mannered Brit, who was convincingly presented by Hugh Grant, since such parts are really his piece of bread, and the free, vulgar American, portrayed by the legendary Peter Coyote. And at the same time, the audience is pulled by the perverted cripple's story into a vortex of emotion and physical desire between the main heroes. The interest in the development of the story starts igniting an ever stronger desire for Mimi in Nigel. He is tempted by her charm and listening to Oscar's story he starts to fantasize about the pleasures her body could provide for him. Once Oscar's dirty story is over, it is time, for the word to become flesh.

The story of the unorthodox couple is a hot tale of love, desire and excessive possessiveness, which even turns into an obsession. The desire of Oscar and Mimi is so strong that they can be forever locked in their apartment, since while they have each other, they do not need anyone else. They create their own little world in Oscar's apartment and fill it with touches, kisses, sex and love. Soon, just sex is not enough anymore, so they seek assistance in the local erotic shop, to spice it up. Once even that is not good enough anymore, the once steaming couple faces boredom.

She is aware of that and that's the reason she likes show off her curves in daring, almost fetishistic dresses. Mimi is Oscar's whole world, at least until he grows tired of her, because he realizes, she is stealing his freedom. The former playboy cannot live anymore without his one-night flirts, where the names of women do not matter, only the sexual satisfaction. His behavior hurts Mimi so badly, that she completely stops taking care of herself, which Oscar uses with cruelty and without shame. He wants to get rid of her and goes to the extremes to reach that goal. But since what goes round comes around, the events turn everything completely around, severing his wings and then Mimi's wrath of a scorned woman, who loved once and still does, surfaces.

Mimi can also be dominant, should her Oscar so desire.
