Fire and Ice - the plot

The animated movie Fire and Ice tells an eternal story about the conflict between good and evil, a conflict between the Kingdom of Ice where an evil magician Nekron rules, and the Kingdom of Fire, built on top of a glacier. The evil magician tries to kidnap the enemy's daughter Teegra, but she manages to escape and find a way back to her kingdom though the jungle, wearing nothing but a tiny bikini. She meets a handsome hero Larno, who managed to escape from the attack of the magician's soldiers in his village and is also wondering around the jungle in his Tarzan outfit. It is clear they are meant to be together. All they need to do is defeat the evil magician but they meet various enemies on their way.

Fire and Ice - why an animated erotic film?

Fire and Ice doesn't have a very complex story or characters. The main attraction is the female heroine in her skimpy outfit and almost naked muscular men. Teegra, the main female character, is running around the jungle most of the time or lying on a tree branch with her legs wide open. The animators used rotoscopy to make the heroin as life-like as possible and to show her under the most revealing angle. Not only men but even women are helpless as far as her beauty is concerned, except for the evil magician Nekron.

Fire and Ice was created by two friends, Raplh Bakshi and Frank Frazetta. Early eighties were the perfect time for this kind of challenge because of the immense success of Conan and other fantasy movies as well as Frazetta's extensive knowledge about the theme. Fire and Ice makes use of the fantasy genre's popularity. People who like movies such as Flash Gordon or Conan and Barbarella will also enjoy this one. The movie uses rotoscopy, which means that pre-filmed scenes are drawn over by animators to achieve a high level of realism. 

Frank Frazetta, who passed away in 2010, achieved recognition with his illustrations of movie posters and album covers which depicted fantasy characters with muscular bodies holding swords, axes, etc. Frazetta achieved a cult status with illustrations and studies of the female bodies, very often dressed in skimpy bikinis or other fantasy outfits. His female characters were not portrayed as popular blond beauties, but had fuller shapes, broad hips and dark hair.

Ralph Bakshi is an American pioneer in the field of animated movies intended for adult public. His first production was the animated version of the strip Fritz the Cat (1972) which was intended only for +18, because of sexual content and the use of drugs. His biggest success was the animated first sequel of Lord of the Rings (1978), while younger generations probably remember his movie Cool World (1992) where an animated Kim Basinger tries to seduce Gabriel Byrn.
