Sex Drive: Surprisingly good dramatization

If you are expecting another cheap copy of American Pie out of Sex Drive due to its title and poster, with young people taking their clothes off, doing drugs and having sexual relations, you will be disappointed. Sex Drive is a slightly different thing. It is not exactly Oscar material, but it is still a good enough comedy which is well thought out, despite the theme and the story which is full of clichés from youthful erotic comedies. You know – a virgin looking for the woman of his dreams, a horny guy who is also interested in older ladies and a girl who has no idea she has been in love with her best friend the whole time. But still, the story goes a bit further, to the kinds of comedies John Hughes used to make – comedies which aren’t only pale copies of American Pie and the cult movie Porky’s or a movie which recycles themes from the once popular Lemon Popsicle movies.

Sex Drive: Still naughty enough

Let there be no mistake, Sex Drive isn’t without its share of naughtiness because it has a few typical moves from such movies (like fellatio with a mint, some foreplay and naked breasts), but this is done with style and in such a way that it is clear it was thought out, that it is not a movie for 15 year-olds who have never had sexual relations, but for older youths who know how to think for themselves. A guy named Ian (Josh Zuckerman) is the protagonists. He is a virgin who goes on a date with a dream girl he naturally met over the Internet. The girl of course has the nickname of Ms. Tasty and is promising him paradise if he comes to her town. In order not to be too bored on his journey, he is accompanied by his best and very horny friend Lance (the very likeable Clark Duke) and his best female friend Felicia (Amanda Crew), to whom they explain they are going to visit Ian’s grandmother. It is a cool movie which will also show you the truth about the Amish and about a special kind of fuel which makes a broken-down car go again. Let’s not forget that you are in for a very nice and sexy surprise during the closing credits.
