The experienced director Wayne Wang gave us this more realistic version of Pretty Woman in 2001, where Julia Roberts and Richard Gere are replaced by Peter Sarsgaard and Molly Parker. Pretty Woman? No, it’s reality.

Ice in the behind

Peter Sarsgaard is Richard, a bored computer expert and a fresh millionaire who regularly visits strip clubs and is losing contact with reality. Because he is infatuated with a stripper called Florence (Molly Parker), who drums in a band in her spare time, he suggest something daring to her to test the boundaries of a relationship based only on sexuality. He throws 10,000 dollars on the table and offers to take her on a three-day vacation to Las Vegas. It is like Nine and a Half Weeks, Last Tango in Paris, where the butter is replaced by ice in his behind. The rules are clear. She will dance and turn him on, while he watches and isn't allowed to touch her. But the chemistry is just too strong. Sexual intercourse is replaced by dancing, they even French kiss and when the vacation is over, they face a shock. Even though Florence sets the boundaries and rules, where she clearly states that she won’t allow penetration, kissing on the mouth and any serious physical contact, exactly the opposite happens, which is not a surprise seeing as they’re very attracted to one another and spend most of the time together.
