If you're looking for something completely wacky, try a movie where a gay zombie called Otto joins the film crew of a porn movie.

 

The sex scenes are sometimes so explicit that they're rfeally borderline porn.

Zombie Porn

Otto or Up With Dead People looks like a George Romero movie (The Living Dead), but directed by a gay director, who’s also a zombie fan. The things you will see in this movie have never been seen anywhere else. It’s a mix of gross horror, comedy, porn, art, philosophy, black and white sequences, cartoon, a pseudo-documentary - it’s also a movie within a movie and homage to the orgy in Zabriskie Point, with the slight difference that only males are present and having sex. The zombies here are not just mere undead creatures, but gays with something to say – they’re so out there even Harvey Milk would support their cause. It’s an incredibly weird, but funny movie for people with a strong stomach. The main character is Otto (Jay Crisfar), who doesn’t remember how he became a zombie. He wonders around eating dead animals, searching for his ex lover and looking for new ones. When he finds a lover, he first has sex with them and then eats them. He also joins the film crew of director Medee Yarn (Katharina Klewinghous),who’s shooting a a movie called Up With Dead People, an epic political porn movie, but with zombies.

Slightly boring, yet original

Our Otto, of course, becomes the main star as he’s a real zombie. On the set, however he’s pronounced to be a highly talented method actor, a new Marlon Brando or Robert De Niro. In fact he’s better than them as he’s playing himself. Bruce, the director of Otto and a leading figure of the queer movie has a few tricks up his sleeve and manages to poke fun at gay people, guerilla movies and a world where even zombies are more normal than normal people. Unfortunately he takes a little longer than necessary to do it and too much philosophizing turns the wacky satire, full of black humor, into a rather boring experience. But it is original and cliché-free. Or rather the clichés are taken so far that they cease to be clichés.
 

The mordbid, yet funny scenes are only for people with a strong stomach.

 

Scenes you have never seen before

 

The movie is full of direct, full on sex, mostly involving gay men- there’s regular sex, zombie sex and plenty of hard-ons and close-up shots of penetration. It’s definitely not a regular-movie-goer’s type of flick, as most might find the gore and sex a bit overwhelming and maybe even sickening. At times, you might be reminded on Cronenberg’s movie Crash, where the characters were turned on by car crashes and  even penetrated each other’s wounds. However, Otto takes things a step further and makes Crash look like a cartoon. If you’ve got a strong stomach and are into queer movies than Otto is definitely for you. It’s an uninhibited gore orgy of a movie which tells us that zombies are addicted to sex and that all zombies are really gay. If you want more of the same after seeing Otto; or, Up with Dead People, I suggest other movies by Bruce La Bruce, such as Give Piece of Ass a Chance, Come as You Are, Skin Gang, No Skin off My Ass and The Post Queer Tour. The titles speak for themselves, don’t they?
