Meet the Sex and the City girls

The first season of the Sex and the City TV series reveals the core of this global sensation very quickly - saying boo to each and every single taboo of sex. A brave talk about sex demands brave women, but what the Sex and the City TV series bestowed upon world are four women who can be listed as above brave. The four main characters of the series are Samantha (Kim Catrall), who breathes, eats, drinks, and sleeps sex, Charlotte (Kristin Davis), who is basically the opposite of Samantha and daydreams of her Prince Charming and yearns for her fantasy of the perfect wedding to come true all the time, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), the “reasonable” lawyer, and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), the famous New York Star columnist whose love life always starts and ends with Mr. Big (Chris Noth) and their great ups and their beyond miserable downs.

Sex and the City is beyond sex

Our lovely ladies reveal everything you ever wanted to know about how women talk about sex among themselves. They’re not afraid to tackle even the most controversial subjects, such as anal sex, oral sex, penis sizes, the taste of sperm, lesbianism, promiscuity, female ejaculation, threesomes, circumcision, analingus, one night stands, impotence, golden showers, and the list goes on, and on, and on. Samantha, the most promiscuous of the four, has apparently never heard of the word taboo. She loves to lay out her sex life for everyone to see and indulge in if they so please. And she's also the one who's shown naked the most as well. Free love is her credo in life and it keeps her happy and in tune with her lusty self. She remains that way even after meeting her one true love in the form of a younger guy, with whom she reaps the fruits of a monogamous relationship. In contrary to Samantha, Carrie experiences the best sex of her life only and exclusively with her one true love, Mr. Big, although their break-ups always resemble a devastating explosion. Charlotte, the shy and most ladylike of the four, names Elizabeth Taylor her idol in life. Her manners forbid her to give oral sex and consequently she’s dumped by quite a few guys after just a couple of dates. Miranda, the overworked career-focused lawyer, is "horny in hiding”, but her professional duties all too often keep her from getting laid. Her most frequent night-time companion is her vibrator, which at one time, thanks to her Ukrainian housekeeper, mysteriously changes into a figure of the Virgin Mary.

The Sex and the City TV series is also full of friendship and love

The “female-four-leaf-clover” is inseparable and unbeatable. It cannot be torn apart by any man or any relationship - those four women are real soul mates who always find the time to meet for lunch, have a cup of coffee, go out to party, and have lengthy and uplifting conversations over the phone. This kind of friendship leaves no room for jealousy, spite, or even bad mood, for they never cease to encourage each other and always stand by each others side if one of them is heart-broken. The Sex and the City TV series has set the world on fire by introducing the TV audience to four sexy, cool, radical, and sensationally seductive women, who have taken the image of the modern woman and her sexuality to a new level. They’ve managed to oust the sad spinster from contemporary language and replaced it with a sexy bachelorette, who's not afraid to be single in her thirties or her forties and enjoys her sex life as she damn well pleases.

The Sex and the City TV Series is followed by a feature film

The Sex and the City TV series, which ran for 6 seasons between 1998 and 2004, was followed by a feature-length movie in 2008. The movie, which sees Samantha becoming a human sushi bar, Charlotte finally being blessed with a baby of her own, Miranda and Steven turning into a team for good, and Mr. Big and Carrie finally finding their luck together, was a huge sensation that grossed an amazing 415 million dollars worldwide.

Real sex in a real city

The Sex and the City TV series and the subsequent movie, which were based on a novel by Candace Bushnell (1997), were followed by a spin-off reality TV series entitled The Real Sex in the City, which ran for one season and featured 8 episodes in 2001. The series featured the lives of a couple of hot New York women and followed their endeavors to find “Mr. Right”, which showed a worldwide audience that  a) New York is huge, and b) that although the “sea may be full of fish”, a few good men are very hard to find.
