If you have been on the 'singles' market for quite some time, a familiar feeling of comfort comes along with it. The unknown rhythm of living as a couple is subconsciously not attractive to you anymore because it brings different kinds of experiences. Being single becomes safe, while a partner presents a different life pattern and a possibility of a broken heart, troubles of adapting and a fear that it wouldn't have worked out. The more time you spend out of a relationship, the more acceptable it becomes and even though you have tried to convince yourself that you need to be in a relationship, your subconscious works in its own way. There is nothing wrong with the fact that you like being single. But the signs that you are addicted to being single, according to the writer Debi Berndt, are the following:
1. The feeling that no one is good enough for you
If you think there is something wrong with each person that gets close to you and even the smallest flaw becomes a reason you don't want to be with that person, then this kind of thinking will get you nowhere. You will never have a relationship with anyone because no one is perfect.
2. You are always attracted to the ones you cannot have
If you always have the feeling that you only want to be with people who don't want to be with you, then you have a problem. You are looking for love with people who don't want it. Or they want it, but with somebody else. This pattern of behavior makes you stay single.
3. Hopping from one event to another
Filling your calendar with various events and different men or women while pretending that you are looking for true love is totally inefficient. Your actions may look like you are trying to find love but you now deep down inside that you are not ready for the right person, no matter how many parties you attend.
4. You are addicted to work
The opposite of event hopping is constant working, which leaves you very little space for a social life. It is good to be ambitious but some people exaggerate with work only because they want to avoid intimacy and love.
5. Looking for partner takes too much effort
Online dating can cause various problems, while real dating is unpleasant and it takes up too much time. Maybe you are not ready to make an effort or this is just another excuse to stick to your single life. After all, you are perfectly fine on your own.
