Sex is the most intimate form of attraction between two people. Passionate embracing, caressing and kissing are all used in this communication. But in order to reach this level of communication with someone, we have to first transmit certain unmistakable signs that will let them know we're interested in them. When we like a particular person, we have to draw their attention in our direction by flirting with them, or to put it in other words, by transmitting some physical signals that we hope will have the desired effect. These signals are usually somewhat different with men and women.
From watching to touching
You can flirt either directly or discretely. Women usually flirt discretely and most men flirt directly. Direct flirting means instant physical contact, while discrete flirting requires a certain tactic which starts off with a seductive look. The eye contact usually lasts for about three seconds and is repeated after an interval of time. The person looks elsewhere but keeps returning to you with his or her eyes. The seductive look can be followed by an almost coy smile. The latter can be followed by the approach. In order for flirting to turn into an acquaintance, one of the people will have to break the ice and approach the other.
This step is of crucial importance. If approaching the person is untimely, the whole flirting can come to an end. When the other person responds to your approach by smiling, display of the body language that signals sexual desire can continue and intensify. Approaching the object of your desire is followed by your getting physically closer to each other. The two people keep getting closer with their bodies throughout the pleasant conversation they have and this can lead to first physical contact. Some people get closer after only a few minutes, while others need more time. Women often use the excuse of lighting a cigarette to get closer to men.
How does a woman transmit sexual signals?
Even though we often think that men make the first move, we’re wrong. Many sexologists believe that women make most of the first moves, whether by dancing or in some other way that allows them to show their availability to a certain man. In more than 50 percent of cases, it's the woman who makes the first contact.
A woman will give the chosen individual a nice look and a smile, she’ll lick her lips, pout her face or gently pat her fingers on her face. Many women also caress themselves on the face or the neck when the desired man is nearby. Some play with their skirt so that they lightly lift it. If they have a drink handy, they’ll caress the edge of the glass. They’ll also walk upright and decisively.
Sexologists have found out that an active and dancing woman will get much more attention from men than the one who’s merely passively sitting. While the first woman is approached every 25-30 minutes, the second one is approached every two hours.
Talking and kissing
A man will often try to impress a woman during a conversation by stressing his achievements, while a woman will show signs of accepting or rejecting the man. If she looks away every so often, this can be a sign that she’s looking for ways to avoid the man and the conversation.
On the other hand, playing with her hair is a sign that she's interested in you. The woman's touching a man’s tie, shirt or his hips are all strong signs of attraction.
The man and the woman interested in each other often show
synchronised movements. For example, when she drinks a sip, he’ll take a break from the conversation and do the same. If he touches her hand, she’ll return the caress. Also, remember that a kiss almost always promises something more, “something more” being sex.
