Maybe they are doing it indirectly without you even realizing it or maybe they just tell you that they think you are wrong for each other. Let’s take a look at what goes through their minds.

Your friends hate your girlfriend because they’re jealous

You have a girlfriend your friends consider to be out of your league. Fortunately, you are clever enough to ignore them and ask her out on a date. Now you are with her and they aren’t – they feel betrayed and jealous. The only way for them to feel better is to pretend that she isn’t worth it. There’s probably something wrong with her if she’s with you, isn’t it? In that case, 'thank' them for their support.

Your friends hate your girlfriend because they think she is ugly

This is the clear opposite of jealousy. According to their opinion, you can find a better girlfriend everywhere and they can’t stand that you’re with such an ugly woman. She probably put a spell on you, otherwise you wouldn’t even take a second look at her – so, she isn’t only ugly, but she’s also considered to be manipulative. They’re concerned for your wellbeing, but don’t burden yourself if you don’t agree with them. If it bothers you what they say, this means that she’s ugly in reality, but you don’t dare admit it. If there’s no mutual attraction, the relationship is doomed anyway.

Your friends hate your girlfriend because they find her pathetic

Your friends probably won’t like your girlfriend if she doesn’t treat you well or if she’s completely wrong for you. For instance: if your car is still safe to drive, they won’t tell you to replace it, but if it breaks down constantly and also requires high maintenance, they’ll suggest that you check out other models as well. Think about their advice because they have an objective perspective, which you don’t have because you’re too much involved. When you’re in the driver’s seat, it’s easy to overlook rusty mudguards. If your girlfriend wants to change you and doesn’t love you for who you are, your friends will notice that sooner than you.

Sometimes you convince yourself that you’re happy because you want to have a successful relationship and thus overlook that one of the basic elements is missing. If you’re unhappy in your relationship, your friends will be the first to notice it, even if you don’t say anything to them. Although that’s difficult to hear, it can also be a sign that you aren’t honest to yourself.
