What is the honeymoon period?
In a relationship, the
honeymoon period is connected with its beginning and can last for several years. It refers to unconditional loyalty between two persons. Typically, the partners appear to suffice each other in this loving phase and the rest of the world seems far away to them at this time.
During the honeymoon period, you don’t see your partner’s faults, imperfections and deficiencies. Often, there aren’t any faults to notice because this is the time when you still try to hide your own faults from your partner, a time when you still hide behind a mask.
Sexual attraction doesn’t require a lot of effort during this stage. It’s just there. Mother Nature has probably thus ensured the existence of serious relationships. The honeymoon period forms the basis for a continuation of the relationship.
Every person has his or her own experience of the honeymoon period. For some people, it lasts for only a few weeks, while for others it may last for several years. It depends on how often the partners see each other and on whether they live together.
Research on the honeymoon period
Scientific studies have delineated the honeymoon period in exact terms. According to scientists, it lasts for 2 years, 6 months and 25 days. However, some people still believe in the magic number seven, being convinced that the fairy tale comes to an end after seven years. In the popular imagination, there are supposed to be several milestones: the first month, the first year, the first two years, seven years ...
After two years, two thirds of women stop investing in their relationship in terms of working on their attractiveness, and 70% of men are so comfortable in the relationship that they leave dirty underwear and socks on the floor. At this point, three quarters of the men and women surveyed are no longer willing to negotiate about the remote control and the channel they want to watch on the television.
Prolonging your honeymoon period
Everything has its advantages and disadvantages and, above all, its purpose. There’s nothing wrong with seeing things more clearly with time. Prolonging your honeymoon period would mean that you constantly live under a delusion. Facing the reality and avoiding any excessive damage seems essential for every couple in the world.
