Even today, living in a marital or extramarital relationship is exalted to infinity, and people who stay single by their own choice or due to whatever circumstances, are pitied and considered unusual or even weird. Public attitude towards single women seems to be especially condescending and patronizing. Do your female friends who're themselves in relationships ever offer solace to you, implicating that your life's miserable, and do you ever feel like a black sheep on your family meetings? Do you feel depressed because of the prejudice of your environment? Don't! There are many great advantages to being single. Enjoy them while you can!

You have the opportunity to find the Mr Right

Why should you jump into a serious relationship or even marriage with a man for whom you're not sure he's the one? That would be a terrible mistake, as life isn't a race and it doesn't matter who reaches the finish line first. What matters is the quality of what we reach, and the path itself. Take your time to find a real soul mate, with whom you'll be eager to spend the rest of your life. Till then, don't hesitate and stay single.

Devote yourself to your career

The period of singlehood is the perfect time to focus on your career and devote all your powers to your work. After you find yourself a partner, you probably won't be able to work late at night and during weekends, and your career path will stagnate. So make the best of your being single. This is the period when nobody waits for you at home all cranky and irritated because you're allegedly not spending enough time with them.

You are FREE to do whatever you want

As a grown-up single person, you don't have to explain anything to anybody, or apologize to anybody, or answer any questions. You can do whatever you want, whatever comes to your mind and whatever you enjoy doing. You can take a trip to the seaside with your friends, you can throw a wild party, you can afford to not come home for several days. You can organize your free time as it suits you and you only, and you don't have to cook for three days, if you don't feel like it. These exaggerated examples should serve to illustrate the good points of singlehood: you and only you are the master of your time.

Enjoy solitude and personal growth

When you're single, you can enjoy more time entirely for yourself. Treat yourself to a quite weekend after a wearisome working week. Something like this is almost unimaginable when you're in a relationship, since one then has to constantly do things - go hiking, go to the movies, talk, and always actively spend time together.

You'll see singlehood in an even more positive light once you think of all the stupid, tiring arguments and quarrels couples tend to have over a tube of tooth paste left open, or over the hair left in the sink of the washbowl. Who on earth would crave for such an idyll?

This doesn't mean that the author of this article finds relationships contemptible. It's just that each particular period of one's life has its special advantages. And you should definitely focus on the positive sides as soon as your female friends start to speak of your being single with compassion and pity. They're simply mistaken.
