Beginners' Guide to Bondage - Introduction

Bondage or tying somebody up is part of fetish role play by adults who consent to it. Bondage means blindfolding, gagging, tying up your arms and legs as well as your whole body. This practice is often part of sadomasochistic role play. The very essence of the practice is the submission of one person to another. The tied-up person is left to the mercy of another person.

Bondage is a way of sexual practice which can be considered as a more demanding one. As all slightly more demanding sexual practices, bondage has its own specific rules that have to be observed and they contribute to the greatest possible pleasure.

Beginners' Guide to Bondage - What you'll need

When you tie you partner up, pay special attention to materials which are appropriate for different ways of binding. You should also be familiar with all kinds of bondage knots. If you were a boy scout or a girl scout as a teenager, you will be able to use the knowledge. If you devoted your attention to other things in your teenage years, it does not matter. Just remember, practice makes perfect.

Although deep cuts from being tied up too tightly mean an additional thrill to some people, they will soon realise that such a thrill is short and it is often not worth it. Vaccination of wounds and abrasions can take a long time and might be unpleasant. You can avoid that if you do in-depth research on the choice of materials.

Despite the knowledge about materials and knots, it is recommended that you always have scissors nearby (e.g. medical scissors), a knife or a saw. Something which will help you in a pickle. Purchased toys usually have safety clips.

Beginners' Guide to Bondage - Where to start?

You can buy a lot of more or less suitable products in sex shops. The first thing you should probably do is to go to a sex shop. It is recommended that you feel the products and have a close look at them before using them. If nothing else, you might get an idea or two how to have the fun at home. They will definitely fire your imagination. If sex shops present an obstacle, or you want to do things more in your own way and be creative from the beginning to the end, we give you some advice on how to start.

The most appropriate materials are cotton and nylon. You can also use products made out of leather and metal or adhesive tapes. Bondage gear you buy in a shop can also be made out of neoprene.

Beginners' Guide to Bondage - WARNING!

You must not tie a person up for a long time. The recommended maximum duration is about half an hour. It can also last longer, but make sure that the tied-up person changes positions regularly. You also have to check the person’s limbs that are tied up. If the person is tied up too tightly, it can cut off his or her circulation or cause cramps and pain in joints.
