Sex lubricants are possibly the most overlooked and the least talked about sex aids of them all. It's true that they are sometimes perceived as medical aids since they come in handy in cases of vaginal drought. But the best sex lubricants also make sex more interesting and more fun to boot. There are many kinds of sex lubrication products, such as edible lubes that taste like different kinds of fruit, or lubes which you can warm up to make your sex session even “hotter”.
Why use sex lubrication products?
Sex lubrication products heighten sensations during sexual intercourse and during masturbation. They reduce the friction that can occur during manual stimulation of the penis or the clitoris and make solo sex more pleasant. Sex lubricants are also there to turn a regular sex session into a wild, primal sort of bang. They can also prolong the regular sex sessions because they keep the vagina moist and can be applied over and over again. Water based sex lubricants help you with safer sex. A condom could tear if there was too much friction, and water based sex lubricants help prevent that. Sex lubrication products are also a must when having anal sex.
Water or silicone based sex lubricant - which is the best for you?
Both kinds of the above mentioned sex lubricants are safe to be used together with condoms, but have distinct features. Water based sex lubricants can be easily washed off with water. The prices of water based sex lubricants are rather reasonable and they are usually available in retail. If you would like a sex lubricant that tastes like a certain kind of fruit, you can only get a water based one. And then there are silicone sex lubricants, which are more appropriate for use during anal intercourse and when using sex toys. They are thicker, they don’t evaporate, and can’t be absorbed into the skin or inside the human body. They remain on the surface longer, and they guarantee a longer period of moistness. When it comes to the price, silicone sex lubricants are a bit more on the expensive side, and you need to wash them off with water and soap. There are also oil based sex lubricants, but they mustn’t be used together with condoms for vaginal penetration. Yet, they have their advantages when it comes to masturbating.
Can long-term use of sex lubricants have any negative consequences?
Unfortunately, there are no relevant studies about this yet, but there are some things we would like to warn you about. Always check the content list before you decide to buy any sex lubricant. Some ingredients can cause itching and burning sensations. If any of the sex lubricants which you test cause anything like that, stop using them immediately and don’t use them again. Certain sex lubricants could also lead to yeast infections, but there is actually no real proof about this particular risk. If you're prone to yeast infections, avoid sex lubricants that contain glycerin. Sex lubrication products can also play a part when it comes to pregnancy. Although the manufacturers and vendors of sex lubricant products don't really point it out, most sex lubricant products available have the tendency to affect the quality of sperm in a negative way. Of course, this doesn’t mean that it's OK to use your best sex lubricant as a contraceptive, but that you should refrain from using it if you're trying for a baby. And last but not least, keep in mind that fruit flavored sex lubrication products tend to dry up a bit faster. In order to keep the “playground” wet and wild all the time, don’t forget to apply your best sex lubricant more often.
