Sex has 4 stages! Which one is orgasm?

Find out through which stages you go to achieve an orgasm and which stages are skipped by men.

Stage 1: excitement or arousal

This is an introduction to the communication in which a man kisses and caresses all the erogenous zones of a woman. We often forget that a man is also aroused if a woman strokes him, particularly his genitals. In this stage, there’s increased blood flow to the genitals. Labia minora and the clitoris swell. The vagina extends and the entrance to the vagina is enlarged. Transitional redness may appear on other parts of the body. The sensitivity of erogenous zones increases and the first signs of the coming pleasure are shown.

Stage 2: plateau

This is the pre-orgasmic stage and it shouldn’t be neglected. Most men penetrate the vagina with their penis as soon as they notice that the vulva is wet. However, both partners should continue mutual stimulation. Men sometime misinterpret certain signs. For example, they compare pulling back of the clitoris with a similar reaction of the penis after achieving an orgasm. In fact, it’s a sign that a woman will soon reach an orgasm. The plateau phase, which is very often neglected, is very important for two reasons:

1.    If the penis penetrates the vagina too early, a woman won’t feel full pleasure because she won’t be able to reach a strong orgasm.

2.    This is the stage that gives the most pleasure to an experienced partner. Similar to women, men’s orgasms are actually very short-lasting, but nothing can be done to prolong them. However, in the pre-orgasmic stage a couple can prolong the time of intense pleasure by touching each other gently and, at the same time, postpone “the point of no return”, when an orgasm is inevitable.

Stage 3: orgasm

Orgasm is achieved in two ways:

-  Partners continue caressing each other, particularly oral sex, which leads to an orgasm (solely with the clitoris in women)

-  A man inserts his penis into the vagina, where rubbing the penis against the inner lips and the walls of the vagina triggers the vaginal orgasm. The intravaginal rubbing doesn’t stimulate the clitoris well, even when the penis penetrates deep inside the vagina. Many women therefore suit that a man continues the clitoral stimulation or they do it themselves.

Orgasm is characterised by muscle contractions of the vagina, vulva and anus. Some women can intensify them with vaginal contractions. At the same time, these contractions offer great pleasure to a man. Some women feel such intense pleasure during an orgasm that they don’t want to enjoy it fully or even avoid it because they’re afraid of fainting. Sometimes problems are of an entirely psychological nature: women are afraid that they’ll be in total command of their partner men if they lose consciousness in that way.

Stage 4: resolution

After an orgasm and anal and vaginal contractions, the clitoris returns to its normal state. Other parts of the genital need more time. In men, the penis quickly decreases, but it doesn’t become completely flaccid. It takes a certain amount of time to return to its normal state. Orgasm plays an important role in a couple’s life and it’s therefore necessary that the couple encourages this bodily function as often as possible. Most people are used to taking an orgasm for granted, although it’s clear that it isn’t true. A small amount of effort can evoke a cheerful smile on a woman’s face.
