Call, Sprecher and Schwartz tried to explain why ''yes'' in marriage means ''no'' in sex. In their study, they researched factors that affect the level of sexual activity in marriage. Their findings were surprising. Those who want sex, want it after marriage as well and everything else is an excuse! But why would people all of a sudden no longer want to have intercourse after they get married? The authors believe that one of the reasons is that sex becomes legal after marriage and the erotic charm is gone. However open as we may be, sex before marriage is seen as exciting in our conscience, just because it is somehow not exactly accepted by the society.

The second reason is that people just do not feel like paying so much attention to sex anymore. Sex is no longer used for making a good impression on the partner. The connection is made with a ring – as if sex before was ransom payment for everything we did wrong in a relationship and after marriage people think they do not have to do that any longer. 

Excuses why sex after marriage disappears

Time is not and cannot be a good reason for less sex after marriage. Those not looking for excuses in work, tiredness and fights about money know that intercourse after marriage can be just as exciting, if not even more. But sex after marriage is not just exciting, it also keeps us healthy. People feel more connected to their partners, they are less depressed and they even have fewer heart problems. It generally has a positive effect on our health. Sex can be a powerful adhesive in the relationship and it can connect you stronger than ever, but it can also be destructive. Couples who are generally happier in a relationship have more frequent intercourse.

Intercourse after marriage is a routine

The worst thing that you can allow to happen is to turn your intercourse into a routine. Nowadays, this is a trap you can easily get caught in. Some say that there is no time left for sex and the pace of life is too fast. It should be just the opposite. Sex should help you break the chains of the routine in your everyday life. If you feel that your sexual life is full of routine, think about your communication. Communication could be the key to spicing up your sexuality. Talking about your day at work and what  you had for lunch does not really bring any sparks between the sheets. Make sure your conversations are about more important things. Also, do not forget to listen to your partner.

A ring on your finger should not be an excuse not to try to be attractive anymore, to bring romance into the relationship and make things better with some wickedly good intercourse.
