If you are about to have sex with your best male friend, be aware that sex changes everything. If anything goes wrong, you will not only lose your one-night stand lover but also a very precious person in your life. Before entering this one way road it is essential to set some basic rules you could stick to unconditionally – no matter what happens.
 
 

Your emotions should be cast aside

The first rule is definitely not to involve your feelings in the intercourse. Easier said then done as feelings are not the easiest thing to exercise control over, but it is incredibly important since feelings can ruin it all, especially when you don’t feel the same way about each other (which is very often the case). So when you decide to convert your friendship into a friendship plus sex relationship, don’t forget to exclude any emotional “junk”.

Jealousy is another trap you might get caught in: you simply can’t and mustn’t let yourself be jealous if your friend turns around in the street to gaze at a beautiful woman. This feeling is the kind of junk we mentioned above; make sure you get rid of it.

Communication is essential

To maintain an appropriate emotional distance, you should talk to your best friend about everything. If you happen to notice he is falling in love with you, let him know very clearly what you think about it – no matter what this is. Of course, if you feel the same, there is no reason why you shouldn’t develop your relationship further. But if you don’t want him to fall in love with you, he should know it from the beginning. Be discreet about your relationship

If you announce to everyone that your best friend has become your sex-buddy, you can be sure that things will get even worse and more complicated. The more people are involved the greater  the possibility that somebody might hear something s/he wouldn’t want to. So be discreet about the whole thing and ask him explicitly not to brag in front of his friends.

Unfortunately, such relationships can’t last very long because very often things go wrong and you both should be aware of it before getting started.
