Is Sex with Your Co-Worker a Good Idea?

Your colleague in the office next-door is a sexy young guy who you can’t get out of your head. But – is it wise to succumb to the charms of your co-worker?

Everybody among us was probably at least once in their lives momentarily attracted by one of their co-workers. The explanation for the phenomenon being so wide spread is quite simple. We spend more and more time at our work places, meeting our co-workers day after day, and the wish to vary the routine and experience something exciting does not seem unusual, does it? An innocent flirt with a handsome person you work with (or next to) may make your working day … well, more interesting for a start. The erotic tension and desire for more then gradually grows until you meet in a non-working environment, be it accidentally or by an innocent appointment for a drink after work. Such decisions often result in a night spent together at your or his/her place, and then you live happily ever after. Or not. Before jumping to bed with your co-worker, it is worth considering the possible consequences, especially the negative ones. Once you cross the line between a professional and an intimate relationship, there is no way back!

 

The sex gives you the creeps

The worst case scenario (not unlikely, however) goes like this: you have sex with the man from your office you’ve dreamt of for several months and it turns out that he really sucks at it. The object of your long-lasting desires, the prince charming you couldn’t stop thinking about instantly turns into a frog and you can’t recall what exactly you saw in him. The very thought of him becomes a nightmare, his clumsy touches and sleazy, drooling kisses must be forgotten as soon as possible. However, this is not really possible since you will see him every day (until you quit or he changes jobs). So think again: are you prepared to take the risk?   
 

The sex gives you goose bumps

Another scenario worth considering is that having sex with your co-worker from the office actually was the greatest sex of your life. Every day that follows you arrive at work in a sweet expectation instead of the usual passive resistance: a whole day of flirting and the excitement of anticipating a possible quickie during the lunch break. There is, however, a strong side-effect to this blissful state: you are less and less concentrated on your work, you start forgetting about your duties and responsibilities, and what you manage to do is done in a way that is really below your average capacities. In short, you might fall head over hills in love like a high school girl – but the consequences of your absentmindedness will be a bit more serious than staying in school after class. You might get sacked and the question you have to ask yourself, again, is:  are you prepared to take the risk?

The sex gives others some excellent gossip material

Even though he promised to keep your adventure a secret, there is a strong possibility that he will brag about it to least one of your colleagues. This is what men love doing and you should be prepared to be the center of attention at your work place. You are probably aware that everyone who hears a story, adds his or her interpretation to it when spreading the news further, so you can expect wild office gossip in no time – don’t be surprised if it is completely nonsensical or even insulting. Keeping cool and hoping for something more interesting to happen soon is your best option, although the insinuating looks and remarks by your co- workers might be quite difficult for you to cope with.
