Men Fantasize about Sex More Often and in a Different Way
Dr. Kinsey researched how often and about what men and women fantasize. Check it out below.
Men seem to think of sex more often during the day than women. The history, however, has changed women to reflect their sexual (cap)abilities. (jlp)
Kinsey found that 90% of men have sexual fantasies during masturbation, while the share of women is 50%. He also found that men most often fantasise about unfulfilled or suppressed desires and women about previous pleasant experiences. There were also a number of magazines which stimulate men’s sexual fantasies by their written and graphic material, while women have a poor choice of such magazines, which shows the difference in the nature of men and women.
Kinsey’s findings
At the time when Kinsey and his team carried out a study, the market had fewer magazines the purpose of which was to stimulate men’s sexual fantasies. Despite that, they reached interesting conclusions. Striptease sexually aroused 62% of men in the study and only 14% of women. 77% of men admitted that they were aroused by pictures of naked women, while the share of women was 32%. A lot of women said that they were offended by the pictures.
The motto for life used to be “no sex before marriage”, but today the main way of thinking is “first enjoy yourself and only then get married”. (jlp)
Men are aroused by... everything?
Most men who had had the chance to watch other people having sex said that they felt sexually aroused, while it didn’t really arouse women. The majority said that they didn’t feel anything. On the other hand, more women than men (48% and 36%, respectively) stated that they felt sexually aroused when watching commercials. Sex scenes used to be more or less implied and not acknowledged, and there were no commercial porn movies. The sight of the male genitals aroused less than 50% of women. A number of them were completely amazed at the fact that such things can happen to a woman. The share of men aroused by the sight of the female genitals was above 90%.
Men are already turned on by the thought of a naked woman
The findings confirm that a man’s sex life depends on psychological stimuli and also corroborate the fact that men are aroused by the mere thought or sight of a naked woman, any woman at all, and that they watch or imagine impersonal sexual encounters. This is one of the characteristics of men and couples would probably avoid numerous problems in their sex lives if women acknowledged and accepted it.
Would it be… different if you spent a third of your time that you dedicate to impress your boss with your partner? (jlp)
What’s the cause?
There are several explanations for the aforementioned differences, e.g. men want to have sex more often than women, women have stronger, innate moral qualities, the differences are the result of the roles played in reproduction, or the differences are purely physiological. There are obviously several causes. Sexologists agree that in general men fantasise about sex more often than women. But through the history, women have become more open to fantasies. The opinions of sexologists on the cause are therefore different and many of them honestly admit that they don’t know the answer.
The most important thing is that both partners accept the differences between them. For instance, men don’t feel guilty about their erotic fantasies neither love their partner less. Women, on the other hand, don’t feel that the partner doesn’t like them or has betrayed their trust if he enjoys his erotic fantasies. Kinsey speaks of women who filed for divorce because they had found pornographic images at home. In his opinion, this confirms how tragic can be the consequences of having poor knowledge about the main characteristics of one’s sex life.
