Office romance is quite common

An office romance is a very common thing because nowadays we spend a lot of time with our co-workers. An office romance also depends on the environment that we work in, especially if we work with a small group of people where everyone knows each other. It is different if we are employed in a large corporation where we meet new people everyday.

If we work with a small group of people the relationship with them is more personal and there is a greater possibility of an office romance. But it is also more complicated if troubles arise in our romantic relationship with the co-worker. Let's look at some advantages and disadvantages of an office romance.

The advantages of an office romance

Like with every relationship an office romance is the most exciting at the beginning. Secret and naughty electronic messages, meaningful smiles, seductive looks and hints are all very exciting at the beginning. So exciting actually that you can hardly wait for your day at work to begin and you have at least a few hours of flirting and seducing ahead of you.

Besides, an office romance is fun because:

- Your lunch break is not boring anymore. Any lunch can be like a romantic date with lots of flirting and maybe even a quickie.

- You do not have to worry that you will run out of conversation themes during your spare time - if nothing else you can share gossip about co-workers and analyze your business meetings.

- You can always tell your partner about your problems at work and be sure that he or she will know exactly what you are talking about.

- It is very exciting to have a sexy secret and every time you look at your office table your lips will widen into a broad smile because of what you were doing there the previous night.

- There is a possibility that the chemistry between you two will have a good effect on your work efficiency.

The disadvantages of an office romance

A major disadvantage of an office romance is that you cannot just end the relationship when it becomes unbearable. You will always have to watch your ex partner for eight  or even more hours every day, which can be especially uncomfortable if you work in a small group.

The other disadvantages of an office romance:

- The more time you spend with your crush the more you will distance yourself from your previous colleagues. If your office romance reaches the bitter end you will probably feel very lonely.

- If you are the one who ended the relationship, your ex partner will probably use every opportunity to make you feel uncomfortable. It can also happen that your ex will start some unpleasant rumor about you in the office which can also affect your career.

- There will definitely be all sorts of rumors and lies about your relationship in the office which you will have to learn to ignore.

- If you criticized your co-workers during your relationship then there is always the possibility that your rumors will spread around the office when the relationship is over.

So, an office romance - yes or no? The decision should be made by each individual but do not forget to remain professional and do not play dirty games after the relationship is over.
