An internet poll, including 1743 men and women, showed that 80 per cent of men have a very good feeling after sex for one night. They feel confident and sexually satisfied and are in general content with themselves and the world. Only 54 per cent of women surveyed share the same feelings. Many times they feel abused and exploited after a one-night stand and regret the encounter later. Scientists who conducted the research concluded that it is a scientific fact that men prefer one-night adventures more, which is the result of evolution.

''Evolution often works through positive and negative emotions, which direct us towards suitable and adapted ways of behavior or keep us away from harmful ones. Basic emotions guided our ancestors down the pathways that have been advantageous in terms of evolution. If women were designed by evolution for short-term relationships, they would enjoy them more,'' says Professor Anne Campbell, from Durham University, and adds: ''In evolutionary terms women bear the brunt of parental care and it has been generally thought that it was to their advantage to choose their mate carefully and remain faithful to make sure he had no reason to believe he was raising another man's child.''

What are the benefits of sex for one night?

''Recently biologists have suggested that females could benefit from mating with many men - it would increase the genetic diversity of their children, and, if a high quality man would not stay with them forever, they might at least get his excellent genes for their child.'' Evolution generally took the way of certainty. The social instincts of men brought about the development of society that lifted us above all the other living beings. In any case, the fact that the men surveyed stated they prefer casual sex does not signify a scientific fact. It only shows the difference in the nature of both sexes and leaves us guessing about all the reasons for it. Luckily for men, the percentage of women enjoying one night stands will probably increase over time.
