Do you spend more than one hour a day on the web and spend most of that time browsing through erotic websites? Do you make virtual romantic and sexual contacts with strangers? Have you neglected your work responsibilities because of erotic contents on the internet. Do you devote more time to internet sex than to your family or partner? Do you often download sexually explicit photographs and films from the internet? Do you find it hard to imagine your emotional and sexual life without a computer? If you answer in the affirmative to any of those questions, then you are already exhibiting symptoms of obsessive personality disturbances and you should talk about it with a friend, partner or expert. Diagnosis: addiction to internet pornography. Psychologists from the Californian Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous claim that eight percent of adult American men and three percent of adult American women are addicted to sex in the real sense of the word.

»A journalist asked: 'With how many people do you have to have sex before you are called a sexual addict?' The question is similar to how many glasses do you have to drink before you are an alcoholic or how many bets do you have to place before you have a gambling problem. It is not about the quantity, but about a pattern. Drinking alcohol stops being a social occasion, but becomes a problem and turns into an addiction once the uncontrollable behaviour becomes a way of life. The same applies to sexual addiction according to« dr. Patrick J. Carnes, author of Don't Call it Love. »The most destructive fact about sexual addiction is that we are literally carrying the drug within us.«

While reading Don't Call it Love I was constantly asking myself who would even think of calling the extreme cases dealt with in the book love and who has trouble distinguishing between sex and love. To people who were victims of infant sexuality and low self-esteem, a set of legos can be dangerous, let alone sex and pornography. Why should responsible adults have to worry about their immature attitude to those two things. Of course, the theory about sexual addiction comes from the USA, where there are many major celebrities and major celebrities not only have a major income but major problems as well, not to mention their well-known naivety. And anyway, why would someone even think of being a sex addict? It is simple. If you are rich and famous and can sleep with anybody, you have nothing else to do than think about if it can harm you. And where there is a question, there is an answer, especially if you are willing to pay a lot of cash for it.
