Television has a strong influence on (too early) sex life of teenagers

A study conducted recently has shown that teenagers who watch series and films with sexual content often become pregnant too early and do things for which they are definitely too young.

Increasingly more girls become pregnant because of television

An American study conducted among teenagers by members of a non-profit organisation established that TV series with sexy content have a strong influence on the sex life of American youth. Furthermore, almost all young mothers regularly watched series with lascivious content, which they obviously started to imitate in real life. These series are, of course, problematic because they don’t warn about sex and deal with it in the context of negative consequences. Instead sex is presented as a sexy addition to a story and TV characters enjoy it immensely and have no worries even in the case of unwanted pregnancy.

Young people obviously learn everything by watching television

Researchers who conducted the aforementioned study among teenagers aged between 13 and 17 believe that young people learn a lot of things from TV series that often give a completely wrong impression about sexuality. Parents, of course, don’t pay attention to that and allow their teenage children to watch various TV series, which means that they make a serious mistake for which their children can pay a heavy price; especially if they get pregnant too early, which turns their lives upside down.

Even films in cinemas pose a danger

Parents should also be very careful in choosing films that their teenage children intend to see with their friends. Even if it’s a comedy, it can contain a lot of sex scenes that give the wrong impression and invite teenagers to imitate them. Do you remember the American blockbuster American Pie? Parents were convinced that there’s nothing harmful about the film. It’s true that the study was conducted across the Atlantic, where the population is larger than in Europe, but don’t forget that European teenagers also enjoy American films enormously, particularly comedies that lately definitely have very daring scenes.
