Having sexual intercourse in front of the TV, or in the place occupied by the TV in the bedroom was researched by Italian sexologist Serenella Salomoni. 532 Italian couples were involved in the research. She discovered that the TV found a place in the bedroom all too often. Couples with no TV in the bedroom have sexual relations two times a week on average. Couples with a TV in the bedroom do it in front of the TV once a week. The couples which decide to put a TV in the bedroom are handling things all wrong.

If you have a TV in the bedroom, the most action in your bedroom will most likely come from a boxing match, especially because violence supposedly puts people off of having intercourse. Not only does a TV in the bedroom directly affect your chances of a fulfilling sex life, it also affects the quality of your sleep, which can indirectly influence your sex life. A TV often makes a person numb. If your brain is switched off, it is difficult to connect with another person.

How come so many couples have a TV in their bedroom?

The background noise from the TV puts many people to sleep. An excuse for having a TV in the bedroom is also having different tastes in TV programmes. Not only does it affect your sexuality, it also makes sure you grow apart. After a long and hard day, you both want only to relax and unwind in front of the TV. But sometimes it would be better if you tried to unwind without a TV. A TV in in the bedroom gives also the possibility of shelter from children for people who have them.

How can you benefit from a TV in the bedroom?

If you decide that the TV is something you can’t live without in the bedroom, then set some rules. If you have enough space, try to get a love seat into the room, so that the bed isn’t the place to stare at the TV, but only for sleeping and other night fun that doesn’t involve a TV. Settle upon a limited time of watching TV and set the TV to switch off automatically. If you have a TV in the bedroom, then watch a romantic movie occasionally. You can also watch a porn movie together if you are fired up. Despite the TV, make an effort to make your bedroom a place for relaxing, being together and maintaining the relationship. If the TV is in the way of this, toss it out.
