Being addicted to pornography is not the same as being addicted to sex
''If you are addicted to porn, you stop having sex. You don’t need it anymore and it becomes rather uninteresting and difficult. Another woman, another vagina, another ass, bigger or smaller, if necessary, can appear at any moment on the computer. She doesn’t say anything, she just breathes heavily – without touching her. You satisfy your desire by rubbing yourself a little with your hand. No strain, foreplay, effort, emotional games, everything is easy and fast. The feeling, of course, is not quite the same, but this detail isn’t so important. Everything you need is a room, a tissue, a computer and the internet.”
“Why would I go out on Saturday? To a pub? People are tiresome, I have to talk to them, if I want a woman, I have to put some effort into it. And then the endless process of getting to know somebody, dates, expenses, a lot of effort to get laid, which gives me more frustration than pleasure. Nothing is as easy as in films. So, I rather stick to films. And my girlfriend will never be 16 years old. She won’t be from Brazil, Japan, she won’t want to fart, swallow, piss, participate in an orgy, masturbate with a snake, cucumber, iron bat. She won’t ejaculate, she won’t reach orgasm. She doesn’t do anything that turns me on. She doesn’t like horses, dogs, pigs. She won’t have anal sex. Although I admit I would never do that, disgusting. My hand is all I need, it knows exactly where and when. I can give myself such an orgasm no woman will ever give it to me. I’ve tried, they haven’t got the touch. Waste of time. I know I'm addicted to porn but I haven't got a big enough reason to stop.”
“It used to be difficult. Black and white magazines, then colour ones, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, HD-DVD, telephone, etc. It’s getting easier. All I need is money or to be creative. Modern websites, such as YouTube, are a real revolution. I don’t need anything, not even a registration. I just download and watch. Constantly. Masturbation, big cock, big asses, BDSM, pissing, bukkake. Unbelievable young Japanese girls who swallow the sperm of old wrinkled perverts. Getting creamed, drinking it from a glass. Today everything is in abundance and it's actually quite easy being addicted to porn. Actually, it’s impossible too see everything. But I don’t even like everything. Fat women really disgust me. How can they be so fat and why do they shoot porn?”
These are just a few thoughts of the men addicted to pornography. Addiction to pornography is a serious and sad matter. The most alarming fact in pornography addiction is that some people never realize it. The society ignores it as long as you remain within the boundaries of legality, or if you are just a little smarter than the regulations. If you are addicted to alcohol or drugs, it is physically, psychologically and socially evident and the society can easily recognize it and take action (although more in theory than in practice). In pornography addiction, this is not the case, unless it happens later on in somebody’s life, when the person has family and children. And even then you are not violent or spend money. You only want time for yourself and peace to have a good tossing session. The most harm is actually done by hiding it from your partner. Lies. Masturbation does not break up a marriage.
How do you recognize that you are addicted to pornography?
Ask yourselves and respond. Does pornography have a negative impact on your sex life – in terms of sex life with another person? Does pornography have an impact on your self-image or your relationship with others? Does pornography have an impact on any sort of area of your life, work, studies, sleep, and time with your friends and family? Have you noticed that the love for pornography turns into an addiction, or there is a pattern of compulsive behavior? Owing to pornography you do illegal things? Responses to these questions should not be a simple yes or no. The questions are the cue for serious reflection on normality or abnormality of your behavior.
Recognizing the fact that you are addicted to pornography
As in breaking any other addiction, the first step is to realize there is a problem and recognize it. Many people do that, but in the second step they instantly minimize their problem and try to defend it, for instance, that they do not cause any damage or it is a private matter – in the sense – “I’m addicted to pornography, so what?” Such recognition of the problem is a step, but only one on the way that is long and requires professional help. Naturally, the person defends the way of life that gives pleasure and he or she will not give it up, and in case of pornography addiction, it is really hard to understand why this is a problem and not the way of life. If you read the above thoughts, you can notice there is something wrong, not natural, not right. If an addict reads it, he or she will be able to confirm every sentence with a thousand of arguments, and the last one will be: ''I don’t do any harm to anybody...'' However, even doing harm to yourself is not desired. The greatest ''trick'' of an addiction is precisely in the fact that you tolerate the harm you are doing to yourself deliberately, which on a certain level means that you do not love yourselves despite all the time you dedicate to your ''thrills''.
