Most experts swear by the missionary position. They even claim that it is best if the woman who want to conceive lie on her back at least an hour after intercourse and keep her legs up for a while as well. The so called doggy style - where the woman may lie or kneel - brings the point of the ejaculation of the sperm closer to the egg and thus helps a woman conceive.

Lying on one's side, side by side , or "spooning", as it is called, can be a very relaxing position, which increases the feeling of intimacy and also increases the chances of conceiving.

Orgasming also plays a role in conceiving. The cramps which accompany an orgasm bring the sperm closer to the egg.
