Broccoli meets all nutritional requirements
Broccoli was named for its appearance: its tree-like stem branches out. The word, which is derived from Latin, means “strong arm or branch.” Broccoli is a vegetable that meets almost all human nutritional requirements. No wonder its prevalence and popularity are rising.
Both broccoli and cauliflower have been part of the world cuisine for quite a while. However, it's only lately that scientists have given considerable weight to them, by announcing that they strongly reduce the chances of developing cancer because they contain chemicals that block cancer cells.
How often should you eat broccoli and cauliflower to drive away cancer?
Broccoli and cauliflower have a preventive role in protection against prostate and breast cancer, as well as against bowel cancer. These conclusions were reached by a team of American and Canadian scientists on the basis of a study that included 1300 men.
They found that you can reduce the chances of developing cancer by 52 per cent by eating cauliflower once a week, and if you eat broccoli once a week, you reduce the chances of getting cancer by 45 per cent. Scientists also point out that spinach has a similar effect, but it doesn't have real power against the deadly forms of prostate cancer.
Other curative effects of broccoli and cauliflower
Broccoli and cauliflower widen the vessels in the urological and genital regions, they re-establish good blood flow in these body regions, and they have a positive effect on fertility and libido.
Owing to the universally beneficial effects of broccoli on people, scientists are currently trying to invent tasty snacks that would contain broccoli.
A balanced diet

Despite all its positive effects, don't exaggerate even with broccoli. According to some historical data, Tiberius’s son did just that. He ate only broccoli for a whole month because he loved it so much. He was stopped by Tiberius, who forbade him to eat it because his son's urine turned green. Supposedly.
