Female Orgasm after Spinal-Cord Injuries
Women can reach orgasm even after a spinal-cord injury. How do experts explain that?

In the book “The G Spot: And Other Discoveries about Human Sexuality” authors Dr. John Perry, Dr. Beverly Johnson (whose nickname is the “mother of the G spot”) and Alice Ladas explain their theory about the G spot. They found that the female orgasm is transmitted to the brain through two neural pathways instead of only one. This sounds very logical if we consider the findings of a research, which includes women paralyzed because of spinal-cord injuries, carried out by Dr. Whipple. She found that a large proportion of these women can still reach the genital orgasm, which indicates that there’s another pathway to the brain besides the one that goes through the spinal cord.
What nerves help transmit orgasmic sensations?
Everyone knows that women are capable of experiencing
two different orgasms that have two different centers. These sensations are transmitted to the brain through different pathways as well. This means that even if one pathway is interrupted (due to an injury), the other one can still function properly. It seems that sensations in the clitoris are transmitted to the brain through the pudendal nerve, while sensations in the G spot are transmitted through the pelvic nerve. The clitoral orgasm therefore goes to the brain through other pathway than the G spot orgasm. Maybe that’s why women who reach G spot orgasms describe them as if they were coming from somewhere deeper in the body. This is perhaps the reason why women feel as if they have to pass urine when the G spot is stimulated, since the same nerve also communicates that the bladder is full.
Can only women have two orgasms – the G spot and clitoral orgasms?
I believe that both men and women can have one kind of orgasm. However, there are several ways how to reach it. A woman can reach it by stimulating her clitoris or G spot (vagina) and a man can reach it by stimulating his penis or prostate through the anus.
