How Can We Exert Greater Control over Ejaculation?

When do you ejaculate semen too quickly?

According to various studies, 25 to 35 per cent of men between the ages of 18 and 59 suffer from premature ejaculation. This is not only determined by the time at which ejaculation occurs but also by other factors:

Poor control over ejaculation
Reduced sexual satisfaction of the patient or partner with sexual intercourse
Stress experienced by the patient or partner

Ejaculation therefore takes place too fast when you are unable to control it and your sex life is affected by it. The feeling is unpleasant because, when sexually aroused, you are unable to control or stop ejaculation, and afterwards you feel guilty because your partner isn't pleased. Even if you are an excellent lover with your hands and tongue, absence of real sexual intercourse (coitus) will harm even the strongest and most loving relationship, sooner or later.

How to prevent premature ejaculation?

There are three main methods for treating premature ejaculation. The first involves psychotherapy. The man visits a psychologist who, by analysing the patient’s emotions and his past, tries to treat the disorder which is considered to be psychological. The main obstacles of this method of treatment are, above all, a long-lasting process and a modest success. In addition, the therapy is very expensive. Other, more effective methods for preventing premature ejaculation are the techniques developed by Masters & Johnson.

Stop and Go and Squeeze are similar techniques. They will not be described in detail because they have to be shown to you. The grip with which you squeeze the penis is not so easy and you should therefore turn to professional help. In a short period of time, both techniques help you achieve striking results - there's a 60 to 90 per cent success rate. However, studies showed that the success rate falls to 25 per cent in 3 years after the therapy.

Dapoxetine and SSRI

SSRI is an abbreviation for selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They are used for treating depression. Unwanted side effects are dry mouth, irritability, stomach aches, diarrhoea, headache, sleepiness and anxiety. Prolonged erection is one of the side effects as well, but research in this area has not yet been concluded. New hopes are raised by a drug which belongs to the same group, but is specifically developed to treat premature ejaculation. The drug has already gone through a number of tests which confirmed its effectiveness. The patient takes 30 to 60 mg of dapoxetine 1 to 3 hours prior to sexual intercourse. The time you're able to have intercourse extends for 3.2 to 6.8 times. It is also interesting that the most common side effect of the drug is nausea which can be avoided by a meal full of fat.

Premature ejaculation is fairly unpleasant for men

Premature ejaculation is not considered a serious condition, particularly due to the fact that physicians do not consider it as such. However, 72 per cent of men suffering from premature ejaculation experience a lot of stress and dissatisfaction because of the situation, according to men themselves. Many are trying to find a solution to this problem, and some of them even take antidepressants which have quite a few side effects.
