We wrote about the possibility of getting hemorrhoids from anal intercourse. In this article we prepared advice how to avoid the risk and give in to the pleasure without any worries.

Anal intercourse and hemorrhoids: Lubricants

In order to prevent the trauma caused by hemorrhoids you have to be careful about the following things:

1. The first rule is to use plenty of water-based lubricant. The rectal canal does not produce its own lubricant (contrary to vagina) and that's why you have to take care of it by yourself. Enough of lubricant prevents the friction which usually causes hemorrhoids and injuries of the sphincter muscles.

2. Never use silicone based lubricants, because they can damage the condoms and cause irritation.

3. Never use lubricants which contain spermicides. Spermicides are used for prevention of pregnancy, but there is no such worries with anal intercourse. Spermicides can irritate the rectal mucous membrane and contribute to the development of hemorrhoids.

Anal intercourse and hemorrhoids: Pace and force

You should never practice aggressive anal intercourse, because this sexual practice is not intended for rough play.

Anal intercourse demands a conscious control of the reflexes on the recipient's part, which also includes the reflex to extract the penis. This type of control of bodily functions requires time and patience. Even if you overcome the reflex at the beginning to enable penetration, a quick and sudden movements will cause the reflex to return.

Never have anal intercourse when you're drunk or under the influence of drugs, which could reduce the sense of pain. You have to be able to recognize and understand the bodily signals which will make you aware of the possible injuries. Pain is a very important signal - if it hurts, don't do it. If you're not capable of feeling the pain, don't do it either.

Start talking about anal intercourse and hemorrhoids

Communication is the key to safe sexual life. If you and your partner are not capable of talking about sexual issues, don't practice anal intercourse. Both participants should overcome their pride and fears; the recipient should be decisive enough to stop the intercourse if it hurts and the active partner must show respect and not be offended if the intercourse is interrupted.

Anal intercourse and hemorrhoids: In what cases you should avoid anal intercourse?

1. If you don't like anal intercourse, don't do it. Don't let anyone force you, because your impossibility to relax will only make you more vulnerable. Tension during anal intercourse can lead to injuries.

2. Don't practice anal intercourse if one of you is ill, which also includes a common cold, flu or any other disease.

3. Never practice anal intercourse without a condom, even with a regular partner, because the bacteria in the rectum can be dangerous if they are transmitted to another part of the body - especially the mouth and vagina.

If you enjoy anal intercourse and pay attention to the peculiarities of this sexual technique, for example to use the lubricant, relaxation, hygiene and gentleness, you can spice up your sexual life in a safe way.
