Masturbation lessens the chance for prostate cancer
20-year old men who ejaculate more than five times a week are less likely to get prostate cancer, shows a study carried out in Australia. The study focused on ejaculation with masturbation, as by sexual intercourse men can get various infections that further increase the possibility of
prostate cancer.
The research was conducted by Graham Giles from the cancer organization The Cancer Council of Victoria. Scientists researched sexual habits of 1079 people with prostate cancer. Responses were compared with the responses of 1259 healthy men.
The team concludes that the more men ejaculate between the ages of 20 and 50, the less likely they are to develop prostate cancer. Mr Giles emphasizes that the protective effect is greatest for those who masturbate most frequently between the ages of 20 and 30.
In previous studies, scientists discovered that carcinogens start building up in the prostate, if a man does not ejaculate frequent enough. Masturbation is no assurance that you are safe from prostate cancer, however, ejaculation of semen definitely reduces the possibility of the disease.
What is the connection between masturbation and prostate cancer?
And what does the prostate have to do with ejaculation itself? The prostate secretes a fluid among sperms that prevents them to stick together and it activates semen. The fluid contains high concentrations of zinc, fructose, citric acid and potassium.
Graham Giles said the following about the research: “It's a prostatic stagnation hypothesis. The more you flush the ducts out, the less there is to hang around and damage the cells that line them.”
