Normally, you’re given pills to take them orally or a gel or cream (for vaginal use). The symptom of bacterial vaginosis is usually a white or yellow discharge, sometimes containing blood. The vaginal walls foam from the discharge and can also be covered by pus. The initial signs can be similar to an infection of the urinary bladder.
What causes bacterial vaginosis?
According to some sources, bacterial vaginosis is caused by bacteria that grow for unknown reasons. Recently, the bacterium Haemophilus vaginalis was isolated as the cause of a vaginal infection similar to trichomoiasis. The discharge is a white-grey colour. The bacteria were diagnosed by a wet preparation – a mixture of the vaginal discharge and saline, examined under a microscope. If you have a chronic vaginal infection that can’t be detected, it’s best if you see your general practitioner to test you for this microorganism.
Infection transmission
Haemophilus (and unspecific vaginitis) can be transmitted to your sexual partner, so you have to pay attention to the signs of the condition. For Haemophilus, you’re prescribed nitrofurazone (also called Furacin) or sulphate suppositories.

There are also alternative drugs
1. Three times a week for two weeks, wash yourself with two spoons of white distilled vinegar dissolved in 1 litre (1.76 pt) of water. In the event of a very persistent infection, add a crushed clove of garlic.
2. Twice a week for two weeks, wash yourself with a mixture of two roots of ash tree and 15 grams (0.5 oz) of alum roots, cooked in 1 litre (1.76 pt) for half an hour. The bark of oak tree also helps.
3. Use a garlic suppository and the methods described for candidiasis. (Cover the suppository with ordinary yoghurt and place it in your panties, and it’s also recommended that you don’t eat any sweets while you have the problem because they make complications even worse.)
4. Your resistance will be improved by cranberry or cranberry tablets. You can buy them in any pharmacy. It’s also highly recommended that you iron your panties and that you go to the toilet and urinate after sexual intercourse.
5. Pour 1 litre (1.76 pt) of boiling water over a tee spoon of ginseng and a chopped clove of garlic. When it cools down, wash yourself with it every day for a week.
