What does paraplegia and quadriplegia mean?

 
Paraplegics are people who  have legs paralysed and quadriplegics are people who have all four limbs paralysed. Paralysis depends on which part of the spinal cord is injured. Paraplegics usually have an injury in the sacral region. Normally, the arms are fully functional. Quadriplegics lose the ability to use all the limbs because of a spinal cord injury at the level of the neck. However, there are different levels of severity and paralysis.

In the cases of such deficiencies in particular we are truly aware of the importance of other components in sexual intercourse. The tongue, lips, hands and fingers are also part of sexuality. The largest organ which is very sensitive, and we do not take full advantage of it, is the skin. Sexuality requires more planning, preparation, creativity, trust and most importantly a sense of humour. Special emphasis is placed on communication. Sexual intercourse is not a matter of genitals but the whole person.

In some cases people receive a catheter that frightens many of them. Catheter does not need to be removed in order to have satisfying sexual intercourse. Some men can still achieve erection. Maybe it will not be as it was before, but it is welcome just the same. Those who cannot achieve it should come up with new ways how to use the penis as best as possible. Many people also use Viagra, special vibrators or sex chairs. Sucking, rubbing, and pinching the nipples help achieve erection and even ejaculation. Stimuli are transmitted from nipples to the penis.
