There are several techniques to shave your pubic hair.
Waxing and laser hair removal treatment are popular techniques among both women and men, but the majority still prefer to use a razor. The area around the private parts is very sensitive and many people feel very unpleasant when shaving them. So we prepared a few simple tips how to avoid those annoying itches and pains when you shave your vagina or penis.
1. Soften your skin by soaking in warm water
Before removing your pubic hair, it’s best to soak in warm water for a while or have a hot shower. There are lots of ways of styling your pubic hair and you can think of yours while you’re in the bathtub.
2. The best positions to shave your vagina or penis
Sit in a chair with your feet above your waist and spread your legs, or sit on the edge of your bathtub with one leg on the edge and the other in the bathtub, or lie down in the bathtub and lift both legs and lean them against the edges of the bathtub.
3. Shave in the direction of your hair growth
It is best that you shave your vagina or penis in the direction of your hair growth to avoid ingrown hairs. It’s not advisable for women to shave during their period because the area around the vagina is more sensitive at that time. If you shave your vagina anyway, you should wear cotton underwear because the lack of air circulation and tight fitting clothes increase the risk of ingrown hairs.
4. Use a lot of shaving foam or gel
If your skin is sensitive, put some ice on it to work as an anesthetic before removing your pubic hair. Use a lot of shaving foam or gel on the area to be shaved and leave it for a few minutes to soften the skin. Dry shaving may cause an infection, razor bumps or pain.
5. Use ice and cream
After shaving, put on loose fitting underwear to avoid skin irritations on the freshly shaven area. If you have itchy skin after
shaving, cool it down with ice cubes. Do not forget to moisturize your skin with a cooling, moisturizing cream.
