What actually goes on in the mind of a paedophile? Why are some people sexually attracted to children?

What is paedophilia?

According to the law, an act of paedophilia is sexual intercourse involving an adult and a child. Who is deemed an adult and who a child depends on the society. In Europe, when a person turns 18, he/she is considered an adult. The limit used to be 21 years. However, the age when we grow up varies. In some cases, people aged 30 or over are mummy’s boys. Some boys aged 13 are already married and have at least one child. It’s a rather puzzling question. In his book, Sex Variants, P. J. Gillette clearly determines the period of childhood: everyone is a child if still in puberty. In nature, when a female has ovulation, she’s ready to mate. However, it’s advisable that you wait until your body is properly developed. There are no dilemmas for boys. When a boy has enough sperm, he needs to release it, and the child isn’t a child any more. At least not for Mother Nature. Therefore, a paedophile relationship is a sexual relationship established between a pre-puberty child and an adult person, aged over 18. If an 18-year-old sleeps with a 17-year-old prostitute, this probably isn’t considered an act of paedophilia. And if a 14-year-old boy enjoys sexual play with a 12-year-old girl, this isn’t considered an act of paedophilia either.

What’s wrong with paedophiles?

There’s something seriously wrong with paedophiles, which has been supported by a number of different theories describing what’s actually wrong with them. As a rule, paedophiles aren’t violent people, but rather too gentle. They usually don’t force children into sexual intercourse, but they establish a specific relationship with a child, where fondling genitals is a sort of a game. In addition, children are very curious beings who want to try everything at least once. For them, sex is a forbidden and, at the same time, magical thing. They can’t resist it and a paedophile takes advantage of that. But what’s “sex” really like in a paedophile relationship? A man convinces a girl to fondle his penis, while he caresses her body. Coitus occurs very rarely, as well as fellatio. Most paedophiles would never harm children because they don’t hate them. They feel a strange mixture of love for them. Gillete also claims that most paedophiles try to have sex with adult women, but they simply aren’t attracted to them. They find them too ugly and too demanding. Many men are aware of their tendencies and try to suppress them by seeing prostitutes to satisfy their sexual desires. As this isn’t enough for them, they satisfy their desire with what really attracts them. They are attracted to children’s honesty, playfulness and spontaneity. Adult women are usually too demanding and if men want to get any “reward”, they have to put forth a great effort, but there’s no guarantee that they’ll succeed. In children, everything is very simple.

What are the consequences?

The consequences of a paedophile’s behavior differ considerably. The cases that shock the public are very rare. They usually involve sadism, murder and violence, which are more common than the sexual component. Serious consequences are usually suffered by people who were forced into such a relationship as children and they later associated this coercion with sex. The main element is coercion. If you force children to eat something that they don’t like, they’ll hate it. If you start yelling at them, they’ll be frightened and confused. If you use physical force, you’ll cause new psychological damage. If you also threaten them not to say anything to anyone and emphasize that it’s awful and unacceptable if a child is mean and naughty,  a happy child will soon turn into a traumatized child. And this can involve a very common thing, such as spinach. In delicate matters relating to sex with children, everything is much more intense, but I dare say that the most damage is caused by the parents and the environment, before the event and afterwards.

In the case of violence, damage is caused directly and if your child is fondled by a stranger and she caresses the stranger’s penis, she’ll live. If she considers it a game, she’ll suffer no consequences unless someone convinces her that such behavior is dirty, bad, inappropriate, dangerous and indecent. This isn’t an attempt to find excuses for such inappropriate behavior. As there are so many different people, we have to be realistic and don’t judge them on the basis of our own anger and feelings. In fact, a paedophile likes children and it’s an adult man’s fear to be seduced by a young school girl that gives a paedophile the extreme dimensions of a “monster”. Ask your gym teacher what they are faced with every day. Invite him to a pub for a drink and you’ll have a better understanding of many occasional paedophiles. However, all men don’t need to burn at the stake.
