What's Sex Like on Drugs?
Sex, drugs and rock’n’roll and roll are supposed to be the perfect combination for pleasure. Is it really true?

Various intoxicating substances that might seem rather innocent can have a long-term, adverse effect on your sex life. (jlp)
You may be just a moderate consumer of alcohol (yes, alcohol is a drug as well!) or a regular user of illegal drugs or a chain smoker – as all other areas of life, intoxicating substances also have a certain effect on sex life. Some have a more serious and long-term effect and others have a short-term effect. In the article, you can read about the adverse effect of drugs on sex life.
Alcohol
Although alcohol is part of practically every birthday party, even children’s, funeral ceremony or business dinner, it’s still a drug that can lead to serious addiction and also affect one’s sex life. In small amounts, alcohol can be a very welcome relaxing element which helps overcome nervousness on the first date, relaxes and thus heightens sexual attraction and sexual desire. In large amounts, it can have very serious consequences and not just those when you end up in bed with a person who you wouldn’t dream of having sexual intercourse if you were sober. In men, a small amount of alcohol can already noticeably reduce the intensity of erection and if the amount is too large, they can almost certainly kiss goodbye to erection. Long-term, regular use of alcohol can even cause erectile dysfunction and mention should also be made of the adverse effect of alcohol on sperm count. Namely, it can damage sperm because of which miscarriage or defects in the foetus occur more often in conception. Alcohol also affects women and their sex life. It causes vaginal dryness because blood flow to the genital areas decreases when intoxicated. In both sexes, long-term alcohol abuse also causes a substantial decrease in libido.

When tipsy, you’re much more sociable and feel a stronger sexual desire, but large amounts of alcohol won’t do any good in bed. (jlp)
Amphetamines
Illegal drugs, such as ecstasy, mostly affect men’s sex life. A lot of men who take the so-called dance drugs say that they often have a problem with their erection when taking such drugs, either they’re unable to achieve it or it’s painful and just doesn’t go down. In addition, there are known cases of men who are unable to reach an orgasm despite lengthy masturbation or sexual intercourse. This occurs when a user takes too many amphetamines. In the case of small amounts, however, ejaculation is possible, but it causes an uneasy feeling in the testicles. Very large amounts can cause spontaneous orgasms and also involve a risk of stopping the heart and triggering a heart attack.
Cocaine
Cocaine also acts as a stimulant like amphetamines and has similar effects on sex life. These are mostly erection problems. If used in moderate amounts, cocaine can increase sex drive, but can diminish it completely if moderate consumption turns into addiction. As cocaine is a local anaesthetic as well, some men put it on their penis and thus reduce its sensitivity and, consequently, increase stamina during sexual intercourse. The same effect is also produced by cream that you can buy in an erotic shop.

Although it can look sexy, smoking is still a very bad habit. (jlp)
Nicotine
Nicotine also largely affects erection and men who smoke are twice as likely exposed to the risk of becoming impotent. In addition, smokers have low sperm counts and deformed sperm cells. In the event of fertilisation with such sperm, there’s a much stronger chance of miscarriage and a higher risk that the child will have health problems. Children of smokers are also much more likely to have cancer, even if the parents stopped smoking before conceiving the child.
Marijuana
In the first half an hour after using it, marijuana brings on a state of euphoria and excitement that also causes a more “frisky” libido, but after the magical half an hour, marijuana mostly acts as a sedative. If used for a long time, marijuana has a very adverse effect, especially because it decreases libido and causes menstrual cycle disruptions in women. This effect disappears when you stop using marijuana. Despite that, many people who smoke marijuana describe its beneficial and positive effect on sexual intercourse itself. It’s much more sensual because marijuana increases sensitivity and orgasms are much more intense and last longer than usual. Some people also say that they have the feelings of paranoia and fear when smoking marijuana, which can, of course, ruin your date after which you hope to end up between the sheets. Namely, you may exhibit strange behaviour, be awkward and not the least bit relaxed as you hoped to be before smoking the joint.
