When Can We Say That a Woman Is Frigid?

As for men, this area includes awakening of sex drive and the ability to experience partial or full sexual intercourse. The term frigidity (in Latin frigiditas) has been used for a loss of sex drive in women. Sexology, which deals with sexual phenomena and sexual behaviour, is a young science. Every new discovery in this field replaces old knowledge or changes and supplements it. There are a number of hindrances that don’t ensure the collection of completely true data (for example, it isn’t always clear whether an interviewer and respondent think of the identical phenomenon). The viewpoint of an interviewer regarding a particular phenomenon and the way a question about it is asked are also important.

The issue of hindered research work has been pointed out again because experts have different opinions on female frigidity. English surgeon Acton wrote nonsense that a woman doesn’t experience sexuality. Freud believed that a woman is frigid if she doesn’t achieve an orgasm in sexual intercourse. Today, frigidity is described together with all causal factors.

When is it said that a woman is frigid?

Some people believe that a woman is frigid only if she never feels any sexual desire and can’t achieve an orgasm. Others believe that a woman is frigid if she lacks sexual desire, but she can achieve an orgasm, or the other way round, that a woman is frigid if she has sexual desire, but she never achieves an orgasm. Therefore, it’s impossible to define frigidity in one sentence and certain opinions were already scientifically disproved a long time ago.

Several factors

1. Selfish man: He was only used to casual sexual encounters, with no strings attached. Suddenly, he is deeply hurt when he finds out that his partner doesn’t respond to him sexually. He relies on his manhood, which he considers to be a sufficient guarantee for his wife’s sexual pleasure, and causes irreparable harm by being a bad husband and a bad lover, since he only satisfies his own sexual desire. All the time he’s only taking and giving nothing in return.

2. Erotic dreams: Many “pseudofrigid” women respond affirmatively if asked about erotic dreams and masturbation. This means that they experience sex in their dreams or they masturbate (some women do it immediately after coitus) and thus satisfy their sex desire.

3. Feelings of guilt: Masturbation itself definitely won’t harm them, but the feelings of guilt suppressed deeply in the subconscious are a formidable obstacle that doesn’t enable them to relax in sexual intercourse. Even in marital sex life, such women don’t allow their partners to arouse them at the first stage of sexual intercourse in the manner that reminds them of masturbation. Consequently, they often experience arousal.

4. Fear of unwanted pregnancy: This is still considered one of the causes of the temporary or seeming frigidity despite contraception. If a woman can’t take contraceptive pills for any reason, and other contraceptives have failed, the distrust of other methods reduces sexual desire.

5. Abortion: Many women are convinced that after the first abortion they no longer feel such a strong desire for sex and rarely experience an orgasm, if any, after the second abortion, especially if it quickly follows the first one, so they can’t bear to have sex for a long time. If their partners are extremely considerate, unobtrusive and gentle towards them, they will slowly overcome the state of frigidity.

6. Behavioural characteristics: Frigidity can also be a sign of a labile, unstable and even neurotic person, or a consequence of an inferiority complex gained in youth. Such women are usually nervous, inadaptable and never satisfied with themselves. They’re immature and suppressed in terms of emotions and can’t relax. They’re constantly in conflict with themselves and the people around them. They wake up ill-tempered because they don’t sleep well. Such a bad atmosphere during the day definitely isn’t stimulating for proper sexual intercourse that often ends with tears and a bad memory.
