1. Cheap date idea: Dinner at home

Even if you can’t cook, you can still have dinner at home: call a takeaway restaurant and set the table for two (use a tablecloth – that’s the printed/embroidered piece of cloth which was on your grandmother’s table), light some candles, put your favourite music on and open a bottle of wine which would otherwise cost you four times the amount. And the most beautiful part: you can go to bed without having to tip the slow waiter.

2. Cheap date idea: You can’t buy romance

A bad play, a loud concert or a boring trip to the museum should be replaced by a walk in the park, where you discover parts you haven’t found yet, cycling or going to the flea market. Even if the show was good, the concert had an ideal sound and you’re really interested in museums, the experiences where we don’t need tickets are usually the ones that bond us the most. You can talk about neglected subjects and really focus on one another. Romance – priceless.

3. Cheap date idea: Home cinema

If you don’t even have money for a video rental store, you can still use DVDs from the library or borrow them from a friend (we don’t even have to talk about the illegal ways). You can set the date which is more appropriate than the one in the real cinema and you can have popcorn that’s ten times cheaper and healthier. And don’t forget to switch off your telephones!

4. Cheap date idea: Creative workshops

Teach one another something: like how to fix a tire on your bicycle (because you don’t have the money to send it to the service) or embroider a napkin for your grandmother (we know why), paint greeting cards, start a small company for the manufacture of unique sexual accessories from kitchen appliances that don’t work or something like that. You can, of course, be less profit-oriented and play body painting.

5. Cheap date idea: Tell the truth

If you aren’t convinced by our ideas, you can still tell your partners you have financial difficulties. They’ll most likely appreciate your honest confession of vulnerability, especially if you do it before ordering dessert in an expensive restaurant. If this doesn’t happen, this person might not be worthy of your time and money – that is if you had some.
