On the basis of what they’ve been told, both men and women assume they know all about a man’s libido. But if we ponder on these pearls of wisdom, we can see that some are not to be believed and that many notions about men and sex are only myths.
Myth about men #1: Men can have sex anytime and anywhere.
Of course there are quite a few moments in a man’s life when he is extremely aroused but this sex myth is a bit far-fetched. A man’s emotional state strongly influences his sexual health and satisfaction and is affected by physical components of everyday life such as stress, fatigue and anxiety. His lifestyle, wishes, needs and, surprisingly, even his view on the relationship with his partner also play an important role. With age, men learn that they need to connect with their lover on an emotional level to have a passionate sexual relationship.
Myth about men #2: Men are only romantic to please their partner
This sex myth can be easily destroyed. It is true that some men become romantic only when they want to woo. Some even do it to be wooed themselves. But there are also those who use romance as a tool to have sex, to strengthen a long-term relationship or matrimony or to maintain a healthy relationship. Every romantic inclination definitely supports the hypothesis that romantic love is a motivation system, which enables partners to build, maintain or strengthen their relationship. Undoubtedly, many men believe that something nice will happen to them if they do something nice themselves and this includes their sex life as well.
Myth about men #3: Men always prefer to initiate sex
Really? Many researches show that men love it when their partner suggests having sex and they feel special pleasure when watching her undress. They like it immensely when they are seduced by their partner. Another sex myth about men busted.
Myth about men #4: Men think about sex every 7 seconds
When you do the math, this statement is absurd. If we take into account that an average man is awake 17 hours a day he would think about sex 8,742 times a day. And that leaves little time to think about anything else, doesn’t it?
Myth about men #5: Men prefer to be bachelors
Another irrational sex myth about men. Even though living as a playboy has certain advantages and appeal it doesn’t present a long-term interest. When you compare them to happily married people, bachelors experience social isolation more intensively and – believe it or not- have bigger health problems.
Myth about men #6: Men don’t like kissing unless it involves a tongue
Even though the general impression that men enjoy French kissing prevails, a lot of men prefer softer and gentler smooches. William Cane, the author of the book “The Art of Kissing” found out that men actually like 30 different types of kisses which don’t include sticking a tongue down someone’s throat.
Myth about men #7: After a certain age he is no longer interested in masturbation
A very common belief, especially among women, is that men are bored with any form of penis massage and prefer different parts of body, such as mouth, vagina or anus. This sex myth is partially a consequence of the fact that men get enough action with their own hands. But having a partner to do his job is exactly what makes it so interesting- he can just sit back and relax. Besides this there are some great moves that he can not do by himself.
Myth about men #8: Men want to reach an orgasm as soon as possible
Even when a man doesn’t have premature ejaculation, he can give the impression that he can’t wait to reach ecstasy. By being extremely sexually enthusiastic they have trouble holding back. But still many men know that holding back ends with an even more intensive orgasm and they enjoy being in action. So don’t worry if you come later because he certainly won’t leave your bed disappointed.
