How to identify the most appropriate type of contraception for you?
Every woman has probably already asked herself what is the best contraception for having safe sexual intercourse, which will not have undesired side effects, the method which would be the easiest to use and which would be acceptable for her partner as well?
Owing to great demand for and usefulness of contraceptive methods, researchers repeatedly offer various novelties for our protection against unwanted pregnancy and for safe sexual intercourse.
According to research, the most common forms of contraception for any age group in the US are 
sterilization, 
contraceptive pills and the male condom. Of course, there are a number of other methods out there! Let's take a look at them.
The female condom
It is particularly suitable for anal sex because it is large and durable. The closed end of the tube made of polyurethane is inserted into the vagina, while the open end remains outside and partly covers the vaginal lips. The condom is held in place by a small ring similar to a diaphragm.
Diaphragm
Before you use it, a spermicide is smeared on the diaphragm. The function of the membrane is to cover the cervix. It is advisable that you talk to your physician as regards the size of the diaphragm.
Cervical cap
Here as well, it is advisable that you talk to your doctor as regards the size and use of the cervical cap. You can use it in a similar way to the diaphragm.
Intrauterine device
A gynaecologist inserts a T-shaped device into your womb where it can stay for one, five or even ten years. It all depends on the type of the device.

Vaginal spermicides
They can be obtained in the form of foam, cream, gel, film, suppository or pill. It should be noted that the active ingredient contained in vaginal spermicides is nonoxynol-9, which some people do not tolerate well and which can be harmful.
The morning-after pill
It is used as emergency contraception when you have unprotected sexual intercourse, or when the contraceptive method fails. The woman needs to take four pills within three days after sexual intercourse.
Hormone injections
They function in the same way as hormone pills. A physician gives the injection in the upper arm once every twelve weeks.
Hormone patches
You place the patch on your skin and it releases a combination of hormones, oestrogen and progestin.
Only a condom also protects you against sexually transmitted diseases. (jlp)
